Changes in the Wind
A few months ago we were approached by a group called ALTECO (Amazon and Lowland Tribal Empowerment Coalition). This small organization was (and still is) looking for people to help them. After some discussion, they ended up offering Rachelle and me the chance to get back to our tribal roots. The leaders at Reach Beyond have graciously and generously allowed us to go on loan to ALTECO. We are in favor of being on loan because we are not in any way disgruntled or upset with Reach Beyond. Rather, this opportunity fell in our laps seemingly out of the blue and we can’t ignore what we feel is God’s hand in it. We have always had a heart for tribal people and relish this chance to work hand in hand with them again. I’m very excited about the vision and methods I’ve seen in ALTECO and their honest efforts to empower and even follow the lead of indigenous Christian leaders throughout the Amazon basin. The tribal women are really rolling and we’re excited that Rachelle may get to spread her wings and join in to help that movement.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and encouragement as we walk this trail.
Love, Nate, Rachelle and Natalia Dell
FAQs
· Will you have to move? Not at this point. We may do a Spanish tune-up for a few months in Peru later. We will be in ALTECO’s Denver offices weekly and travelling regularly to South America.
· Are the Waorani involved? Yes, our first intro to ALTECO was with the Waorani. However, the group works with many lowland tribal groups throughout the Amazon basin. This includes 8 countries and potentially about 400 tribes.
· Do we have to change anything? All our financial support will continue to go to Reach Beyond just like before. You do not have to change anything.
· Are you still missionaries? Yes, we are still full-time missionaries and this new job will require additional financial support.
